Fun Facts about Easter
In the Christian sense, Easter celebrates the resurrection of Christ. In fact, many Easter customs come from even earlier times - namely from pagan culture - whose symbols were adopted by the church. The pagan celebrations were about driving away winter, invoking fertility and the resurrection of nature - the joys that spring still brings today! For this reason, Easter also takes place on a different date every year - unlike Christmas, for example. The festival takes place on the first Sunday after the first full moon in spring.
Since rabbits can often be found in fields and meadows, especially in spring, and are considered to be particularly mate-friendly, they are also seen as a symbol of fertility and were therefore chosen to hide colorful Easter eggs!
