Which flowers are suitable for a dried flower bouquet?

In fact, almost all cut flowers and grasses can be dried, so the right method and a little patience are much more important. However, note that there are slight differences in the drying time depending on the plant. For example, plants that generally contain little moisture and have a soft stem dry faster than varieties with a firm stem. Particularly popular plants are pampas grass, yarrow, lavender, gypsophila, but also roses and hydrangeas. But you can really let your creativity run wild and buy different plants according to your taste from the local flower shop and combine them at home.

DIY dried flower bouquet: Here's how!

Once you have assembled your flowers, you can start drying them! All you need is the following things:

  • Flowers of your choice
  • a string
  • a pair of scissors
  • a branch or wooden stick for hanging ·

Before you dry your plants, they need some preparation. If there are any, remove leaves and thorns from the lower third of the stems so that the flowers are more visible. Then cut the stem diagonally at the bottom and place the plants in fresh water for one to two hours. This gives the plants another chance to absorb water and gain more stability.

Then take the plants out of the water, sort them by type and tie them together with string. Then take a branch or wooden stand and attach your flower bunches to it with some distance between them. The flowers should be facing downwards so that they can retain their original shape. Hang the plants in a place that is as dry and dark as possible. Alternatively, you can hang the flowers upside down on a nail on the wall. Try to avoid direct sunlight on the flowers, otherwise they will lose their color intensity. Now it's time to wait!

Depending on the type of plant, the flowers and grasses need a few days to weeks to dry completely. When the time has come, you can take the flowers down and remove them from their bundles. If you want to make your dried flowers even more stable, you can fix them with a little hairspray. Otherwise, you can get started now and put together your own bouquet!

Simply take your dried flowers and arrange them together in the way you think looks best and the different flowers and colors are shown off to their best advantage. Finally, you can tie your bouquet together with a pretty bow and give it as a gift or arrange it directly in a vase! Your dried flower bouquet is ready!
