What is the basic concept of the designersgroup?
The designersgroup is a design store by designers for designers. We ourselves have founded and built up the city photography label COGNOSCO in recent years. We therefore know how important collaboration and networking between artists and designers is. With our platform, we want to create an additional offer for individual design products for both artists and end customers. The artists and their work are presented via our showroom, pop-up events and our web store . We currently have around 20 international artists in our program, whose images we print in small to large formats on various products such as murals, light boxes and glass back walls.
Where exactly is your showroom and what does it look like? When can we visit it?
Our showroom is located in a coach house in a Charlottenburg backyard. The place can truly be described as a gem. At the front on Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße, city life pulsates and the further you go into the backyards, the quieter it becomes. You almost have the feeling of being in the village. The coach house has a 50 square meter, bright studio room with large lattice windows. Here, photographs and graphics by our artists are exhibited on a rotating basis. We also have various design products in our range. You can always visit us. We don't have regular opening hours - but we are very often on site. But to be on the safe side, just call / email us beforehand or make an appointment with us. We look forward to your visit.
What is special about your shop? How do you differentiate yourself from other shops and/or online shops?
We are growing slowly, but organically and without any marketing pressure. We try to attract artists to our platform who are a good fit for us and vice versa. At the same time, we are close to our customers and try to fulfill (almost) every wish - such as special formats or special finishing methods. We are also keen to experiment and have one or two products on offer that are not available in this form in other shops.
How do you think you fit in with Pickmotion? How did you find Pickmotion?
At the designersgroup we work with the Berlin photographer Michael Belhadi, whose photographs can also be seen on one or two Pickmotion postcards. So we seem to have similar tastes in photography. We became aware of Pickmotion because we designed a series of city postcards in the Polaroid look over 10 years ago - but in black and white. In this respect, your colorful cards were the ideal addition to our range.
What do you like most about Pickmotion? Which products do you like best?
First of all, we were captivated by the colorful postcards, and most recently, of course, the art posters - where the cool photographs in the instant photo look come into their own even better.
