Phoenix Lake
The Phoenix Lake was artificially created in 2006 on a former industrial site of a steelworks and is now known as a residential and natural recreation area. The lake quickly creates a harbor feeling and is the perfect place to spend some lovely hours by the water. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area. Very close by you will also find the Kaiserberg, which offers a fantastic view of the water and the city. It is the perfect place for beautiful photos, especially at sunset!

Phoenix West
Not far from Phoenix Lake you will reach the Phoenix West site. There are many old industrial buildings there, such as impressive blast furnaces that were active until 1998. Nowadays you can walk through the industrial site and even take a tour of the old gas pipes. An impressive industrial backdrop awaits you, which will also create a wow effect in pictures.

Romberg Park
Romberg Park is located next to the zoo and is a popular spot for long walks in nature and next to a small lake, especially on weekends. The botanical garden is a real highlight, especially in spring, with a true display of flowers. But even in autumn, the many colorful leaves and the quiet crunching under your shoes create a calming atmosphere in nature.

Westfalenpark
Not far from Phoenix West, the Westfalenpark with its lots of nature and botanical garden is also a wonderful place for a weekend stroll. From a rose garden to a Japanese garden - the park's great diversity means there are countless beautiful photo spots to discover in every season. When there isn't a pandemic going around, you can also go to the observation deck of the Florian Tower and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city from there.

Hohensyburg
If you need a break from city life, you should take a trip to Hohensyburg on the outskirts of Dortmund. There you will get a breathtaking view over the Ruhr valley and there is a medieval ruin and a monument to Kaiser Wilhelm to admire. The Signal Iduna Park is the largest football stadium in Germany and home of BVB and makes the heart of every football fan beat faster. But it is also worth a visit for those who are not so keen on football.
