Sanssouci Park

Anyone who has read about Potsdam has certainly come across Sanssouci Park. No wonder, as the park is almost 300 hectares in size, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to palaces, gardens and many other impressive buildings. From Roman baths to the Chinese teahouse, there are also a number of cultural impressions to discover in Sanssouci Park. Of course, Sanssouci Palace is also a must-see and with its lots of greenery and large fountain, it makes a really nice snapshot for your Instagram account.

Orangery

A personal favorite in the park is the Orangery. The impressive palace with its detailed figures and a real plant paradise give the area a southern flair and offer plenty of opportunities for beautiful photos. Since the Orangery Palace is located a little higher up, you have a great view of the park - which gets even better when you climb the tower.

Belvedere

The path to the Belvedere is not far from the Orangery. A two-part avenue leads up to the Klausberg and already offers a fascinating view of the building. A wonderful motif for your Instagram account! By the way, "Belvedere" means "beautiful view" in French and that is exactly what is offered here with a view over the park.

New Palace

At the western end of the park is another imposing palace: the new palace. As Frederick II himself wished, the new palace is a magnificent building and even puts Sanssouci Palace in the shade. The interior rooms are definitely worth a visit too - there is, for example, a shell and marble room to marvel at. The two communs, which are located behind the new palace and were originally the residence of the servants, are also real eye-catchers and offer beautiful angles for photographs thanks to the impressive columns and corridors.

Ruinenberg

Behind Sanssouci Palace, the Ruinenberg can be seen from afar and is well worth a visit. Frederick the Great wanted the fountain and water features in the park to be fed from there. Due to technical difficulties, however, this project could not be completed and so the water basin built there was at least artistically decorated on the outside with ruins and Roman columns. Those who climb the hill can admire the ruins up close and also get a beautiful view of Potsdam.

Dutch Quarter

If you want to make a little detour to Amsterdam, you can also do this in Potsdam! The Dutch Quarter consists of four blocks full of brick houses filled with apartments, small shops and restaurants. Here you can stroll through the streets with an ice cream in your hand and take beautiful photos of the architecture and other details, such as the special shutters or beautiful plants.

Holy Lake & New Garden

Potsdam has many beautiful lakes to offer. One of them is the Heilige See in the Neuer Garten, which was artificially connected to the Jungfernsee. The water is beautifully clear and is therefore a popular spot to cool off in the cool water. In the Neuer Garten you can take a wonderful walk between the trees and discover other architectural gems, such as a marble palace or a Gothic library. Be sure to visit the Meierei for a cool drink right by the water!

As you can see, Potsdam has many great places to offer that are worth a trip and a photo tour! If you share a photo from there on Instagram, please use the hashtag #pickmotion so that we can see your great pictures! Also remember to send greetings to your loved ones with our Pickmotion cards from the online shop or local retailer!
