Where exactly is your store located? What does it look like there?
The " buschwerk - space for ideas " is located in the center of Neustadt on the historic market square, surrounded by beautifully renovated half-timbered houses, good restaurants in the neighborhood and to the side of the main pedestrian zone. It is small and fine, because in about 30 square meters there is a select mix of many different products outside the mainstream. The centerpiece is the stationery with gift wrap from England, Italy and Nepal - which is complemented by a huge selection of folding cards and postcards, which is my great passion. It becomes a concept store here with a finely coordinated range of jewelry, textiles, books, home interior and stationery.
What is the basic concept of your store?
My credo is to find things that arouse curiosity, that inspire, that you don't find everywhere; but that you may have seen in some specialist magazines and then suddenly discovered in buschwerk . Things that I have to like first and foremost, because I can only inspire my customers if I can inspire myself. Many of the products I carry are sustainably and fairly produced, and almost all come from Germany or other European countries. Within the scope of my spatial capacities, it is also important to me to always offer local small artists a platform where they can exhibit their products, so some of my articles are the result of collaborations and are custom-made especially for buschwerk . This sets me apart and is particularly fun for me.
In your opinion, how do you fit in with PICKMOTION? How did you find PICKMOTION?
PICKMOTION is a perfect fit for us because the card motifs (be it photo or text) are always unusual and hit the mark. There are one or more suitable motifs for every occasion, many with a wink and never crude. That is exactly what I aim for with the rest of my range. I have liked and sent PICKMOTION cards privately long before I opened buschwerk . So it was clear that PICKMOTION would be an integral part of my range.
What is special about your shop? How do you use the advantages of brick-and-mortar retail? How do you differentiate yourself from other shops and/or online shops?
In my opinion, stationary retail in the form in which I operate buschwerk is unrivalled compared to online retail. My customers discover collector's items in buschwerk that they didn't even know they wanted until now. Emotionality plays a big role, combined with expert advice, background stories about the manufacturer, little anecdotes when choosing at trade fairs and even a nice chat.
Social media certainly plays a complementary, albeit increasing, role as an advertising and marketing platform. There is a significantly increasing number of interested parties here, both young and old, which makes me very happy, as I can always keep my customers up to date with the latest product range.
Buschwerk sees itself as a "space for ideas". Creativity is very important to us, there is no such thing as "can't do". We always have suggestions for solutions ready and we find it easy to think outside the box. Luckily, my dear customers really appreciate that.
