The pictures from his trip through the States are next to snapshots of Berlin, advertising typography and, as he says, his speciality, backlit shots that skillfully outshine part of the image. Hannes is also the creator of a Pickmotion evergreen - the "traffic light heart" at the United Nations Square in Berlin, where an inspired street artist has transformed the red signal of the bicycle traffic light into a heart.
@_hannesthun came to photography indirectly - and like so many talented photographers, not through formal training. He studied sports journalism - and loves to talk about football. He experiments with the new Instagram portrait format as well as with all kinds of filters - to this day, the M5 from VSCO, a light, desaturated gray, is one of his favorites. He uses the community more for small, private trips than large meetups. And he imagines his dream stream as a journey through the night. "I'm a night owl and I love neon light. The glow of the night fascinates me the most."
This summer in Poland, Hannes was also occasionally found without his cell phone and camera - "To really relax, I have to go to an unspectacular place that isn't too beautiful." Otherwise, traveling and photographing weddings can be perfectly combined - Hannes has traveled a lot through his job, from a winery in California to Spain, London and Austria to Sweden - many couples look for a special place and then celebrate in a small circle.
The only disadvantage is that summer falls victim to the wedding season and Hannes says: "I actually spent the whole summer sitting at the computer" - although many friends see the couple, who are both privately and professionally involved, as constantly touring. Now it's time for a breather from January to March - they'll be in Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa.
