For this DIY, you don't need many materials to make little ghosts and round pumpkins. You can hang them on the wall, cupboards, curtain rods or all kinds of other places and they are sure to please you and your guests! For the DIY Halloween decoration you need:
- Yarn (white, orange, green or whatever other colours you like)
- Scissors
- Glue (hot glue or liquid glue)
- googly eyes or a sharpie
- Cardboard
DIY Ghosts
First you need a piece of cardboard, which you can easily cut from old cardboard boxes from the wastepaper. Cut out a rectangle the size you want your ghosts to be. Take the white yarn (or the colour you want your ghost to be) and wrap the string around the cardboard about 20 times. You can of course make more wraps - this will make your ghost a little thicker. When you are satisfied with the size, cut the yarn. Cut about 5 cm of the same coloured yarn and put it between the wool and the cardboard. Now tie a double knot to secure the long thread and carefully pull out the cardboard. Make another knot with the loose ends of the thread - now you have a little loop with which you can hang up the ghost later!
Cut another piece of thread about 5 cm long in the same colour and wind it to about 1/3 of the height of your ghost. Make another double knot with the loose thread and your ghost will have a body and a head! Now you can cut the loops at the end of the body and trim the hanging thread to one length. All that's missing now are the eyes! Take some googly eyes and stick them onto the face with a hot glue gun or liquid glue. If you don't have any googly eyes at hand, you can also take a sharpie and draw eyes yourself!
You have finished your ghost! If you like, go ahead and make even more ghosts in different sizes and you'll have a cute parade of ghosts in your house in no time!
DIY Pumpkin
For the pumpkin, we'll follow a similar procedure as for the ghost. Again, take a piece of cardboard and wind some orange yarn (or another colour) around it several times. Use more yarn for the pumpkin than for the ghost, as it should be a little thicker and becomes easier to shape. Cut the yarn and carefully pull out the cardboard. Take another thread to wrap around the pumpkin and make a double knot to secure.
If your pumpkin is not quite round yet, use your fingers to shape it as you like. Now we need a green thread for the stem! Place it on the pumpkin and secure it with the orange thread with a double knot. For even more stability, make another double knot with the green thread around the orange yarn. To give it more of a stem shape, tie another double knot at the loose ends of the green thread.
Your pumpkin is ready and fits perfectly with the little ghosts!
All that's left is to give your ghosts and pumpkins a nice place to hang out! With the loops you can hang them wherever you want, maybe on the door handle, on the corner of a cupboard or on a lamp! You can also take another string to pull it through the loops and hang your ghost friends and pumpkins on the wall together!
