SCHABERNACK

PRANKS

You can "get lost and search" on Instagram, as Lars Lehner, the real name behind @schabernack, puts it. The entire world is accessible through the app and people are revealed to you visually, completely differently and often more authentically than on other social networks and especially compared to written text. This is still the voice of an Instagram enthusiast, even if Lars, who develops websites for a living, is no longer as active as he was at the beginning.

This is not disappointed love, but rather caution against the mass rush of an individualist: "I'm not the type to run around in a huge group, I always prefer small groups to official stories," says @schabernack. It's not for nothing that he chose this name, an old, unpolished and rare one that sounds fresh and funny.

He had earned 4,000 followers before he was on the suggested user list - an honor and a curse at the same time, as he now thinks, as inflated as the financial markets. The boom in likes was followed by their slow death, and there was hardly any real interaction. This is certainly an experience that Lars shares with many other Instagram enthusiasts. As a result, he now spends much more time on the platform as a consumer than as a photographer.

@schabernack's style is an interesting mix of classically composed shots from a distance, documentation of delicate street art and tongue-in-cheek snapshots of urban events. "I pay attention to details and the color scheme is important to me," is how he describes his photos, which he takes time to edit and which he rarely posts live. Developing his own perspective, capturing the moment that others haven't seen - that's what drives him.
