The PICKMOTION team starts a tree planting campaign
The journey began on May 12, 2022: Full of energy and motivation, the PICKMOTION team met in Berlin-Pankow to travel to Neuruppin in a tour bus and roll up their sleeves. The idea of planting trees for customers and our environment had been in the works for months. Now the time had finally come to get involved and actively help shape the PICKMOTION forest. To do this, we met with two friends Sebastian and Frederik, who together launched the " Viva la Wald " project in Potsdam. A real project close to their hearts, because both actually work full-time as engineers and use every free minute for their reforestation campaigns.

Why regional tree planting campaigns are so important
Forests are essential for a healthy climate for many reasons. For example, trees absorb large amounts of carbon monoxide every year and give us oxygen in return. Their leaves allow water to evaporate every day and generate humidity, which can later be converted into rain. In addition, wood serves as a naturally renewable raw material that, when processed into furniture or paper, stores large amounts of CO 2 that would otherwise have been released again if the trees had rotted.
Unfortunately, our German forests consist largely of monocultures full of spruce or pine trees and are therefore particularly vulnerable to pests, drought and extreme forest fires. Local reforestation projects such as those by Viva la Wald and PICKMOTION ensure that different and particularly resistant tree seedlings - such as beech, oak, maple and Douglas fir - are planted in the ground. This allows strong mixed forests to grow over the years, which can develop into another source of clean air and new habitat for animals and plants.

Sustainability in the company and in everyday life
As private individuals, but of course also as a creative publisher that wants to share beautiful postcards, art posters, calendars and other great gift ideas with the world, our environment is very important to us. For this reason, PICKMOTION already places great value on CO2 -neutral printing, recyclable packaging and production in the EU. Our tree planting campaign with Viva la Wald is also intended to set an example for sustainable action in our everyday lives. So that the entire PICKMOTION team could get involved and help, the regionality of the reforestation was also particularly important to us. This also ensures that the seedlings will be properly cared for in the future. With the great help of Viva la Wald, we were able to plant a total of 2341 trees in Neuruppin and are very proud of the contribution we were able to make. The PICKMOTION forest is even marked with signs and can be visited and admired at any time at this location (52°57'02.0"N 12°53'22.3"E).
