With Rachel on board, we are excited to welcome an artist from a completely different continent! Born in New York and partly raised in New Hampshire, Rachel has spent most of her life in the USA. A few years ago, however, she was in Hamburg for a semester abroad and fell completely in love with Germany (not to mention our national treasure, delicious pretzels) and knew she had to move here at some point. In 2019, Rachel finally took the plunge and moved to Berlin. A happy coincidence for us, because now she is part of our talented graphics team! Besides creating beautiful illustrations, Rachel especially enjoys walking along the canal in Neukölln, watching the dancers in Monbijoupark or exploring Grünewald on foot and by bike.
Before coming to Berlin, Rachel gained her first work experience in New York City as a security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There she became best friends with Van Gogh and learned the art of telling people where to find the restroom. After college, she worked as an illustrator in New York, creating designs for clothing and home goods for various companies while still doing freelance work on the side. A few years later, Rachel was ready for new challenges and started looking for a passionate team to work with. This thought, combined with her passion for illustrative storytelling, led her to PICKMOTION and we are very excited to see her designs on our products!
Besides illustrations and art, Rachel's heart also beats for comedy. In her free time, she loves to draw comics about life (have a look at her website rachel-halper.com !) and last year she faced her fears and started doing stand-up comedy in Berlin! She sees performing as a wonderful way to get away from the computer and recharge her batteries. And since Rachel is a big fan of comedy, her favorite PICKMOTION image is also the birthday dragon "Party Cannon!" (MP-0715-DE), designed by @pina_coladi . The image is just the perfect combination of funny and sweet and captures Rachel's sense of humor exactly. We are so happy to have Rachel on our team and can't wait to share all her amazing designs with you!
