Leipzig has many beautiful corners! Not only can you stroll through the city center, but you can also discover many other parts of the city with cool bars and cafés or visit many great parks. The mix of alternative and modern makes Leipzig unique and has something to offer for every taste.

Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse

Karl-Liebknecht-Straße , or affectionately known as Karli, is one of the most famous streets in the city and is considered Leipzig's southern mile. Karli is home to many popular bars, cafés and pubs, making it perfect for an extensive pub crawl. Especially in summer, numerous outdoor seating areas invite you to sit down and enjoy a bite to eat.

Schleussig

Another lovely place to linger is the Schleußig district, southwest of the city center. What's special about this district is that it is almost completely surrounded by waterways and can only be reached via bridges. It's the ideal place to take a breather and unwind.

zoo

For anyone who would like to take a day trip to the zoo, Leipzig Zoo is a great choice! Leipzig Zoo is huge and has many beautiful, large enclosures for all kinds of animals. There are also always exciting events for visitors that make the visit to the zoo even more exciting.

Karl-Heine-Kanal

The Palm Garden on the Karl-Heine Canal is even more idyllic. Even though there are no longer any palm trees in what was once a recreational area, the park still has lots of beautiful nature, bridges to stroll over and a wonderful pond. You can also go on a canal trip, paddle on the water yourself or rent a motorboat, which you can even use to travel to Lake Cospuden.

Saxony Bridge

The Sachsenbrücke is a popular meeting place for Leipzig residents, especially in summer. Since cars are not allowed on the bridge, it is a nice and comfortable place to sit down, enjoy the sun and listen to the music that is constantly playing nearby.

Lake Cospuden

There is a bit of a beach feeling in the city at Lake Cospuden - affectionately known as Cossi. When the weather is good, you can jump into the water and do water sports, enjoy the beach bar, laze on the beach or go for a walk. Keep your eyes open for events, because sometimes there is an open-air festival here!

Lake Kulkwitz

The Kulkwitzer See (or Kulki) is also a great spot to enjoy time by the water. The Kulkwitzer See is smaller than the Cossi, but less crowded and is therefore a little insider tip from us. Of course you can also go swimming here or if you feel like it, you can even go water skiing!

Plant 2

Werk 2 is a 170-year-old building complex and one of the largest socio-cultural centers in Saxony. Various markets, concerts, parties and open courses are held here regularly, making it a wonderful place to meet people or experience some culture.

Monument to the Battle of the Nations

The Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig commemorates the Battle of the Nations that took place in Leipzig in October 1813 and claimed thousands of victims. For over a hundred years now, an impressive building has stood there as a memorial and is both a museum and viewing platform, as well as the city's national monument. A place that you just have to visit!

Contemporary History Forum

There are also many exciting exhibitions to discover in Leipzig's Contemporary History Forum . A very creatively designed GDR exhibition, photographs from the Ukraine and great traveling exhibitions are currently being presented here. Entry is free and it is also a nice place to visit for families.

Panorama Tower

A place that is often visited by tourists, but is still worth a visit: the city skyscraper with a viewing platform. At 142.5 meters, the tower is the second highest skyscraper in the new federal states and is a landmark of Leipzig. On the 31st floor there is a viewing platform that offers a wonderful panoramic view of the entire city when the weather is good. The perfect place for a nice souvenir photo!
