Originally from Cottbus, @konaction lived in Australia, Leipzig and Dresden before coming to Berlin and starting to explore the city photographically in 2013. Over 80% of the images in his stream are Berlin motifs and a commitment to the city's nooks and crannies and its eventful history. "Berlin is familiar to me, I know when the light is best. There is something interesting in every corner, it never gets boring!" he says.
Like many Instagrammers, Konrad doesn't take any photos outside of Instagram. He sees the advantages of the platform, especially for ambitious amateurs: "Regardless of your profession, things can get really crazy on Instagram very quickly." He carefully selects assignments from companies, and he has to be able to stand behind them. "I wouldn't do everything."
His cool, symmetrical compositions often combine architecture and people and place them in relation to one another. Steeled urban romanticism and a penchant for prefabricated buildings characterize his style. For @konaction, this is linked to childhood memories and a certain melancholy that is typical of East Berlin. He uses filters to brighten up, remove image noise and change color tones. This is why he describes his square shots succinctly as "clear, urban, colorful."
