GOLDEN CITY - #AWALKTHROUGH VIENNA

A good week ago we explored the city - and especially the Museumsquartier - with some of you on the last #pckwalk. For all of you who weren't there, we've picked out a few places here so that you too can get the perfect Vienna Insta-shot (like our cover photo by @gregsideris ).

Anyone visiting Vienna should, above all, be prepared for a picture gallery full of architectural finesse. The buildings in the Wilhelminian style, but also with influences from Baroque, Gothic and Art Nouveau, characterize the cityscape and, with a bit of luck and a good-humored weather fairy, can be put in the perfect - golden - light, especially at this time of year.

A visit to the Hundertwasser House is a must, especially for photographers. The extraordinary house impresses with its bright colors, lush greenery and sophisticated individuality. Thanks to its unique design, the house, built by the Austrian artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, is now one of the most popular photo spots in the city.

There are quite a few churches in Vienna and they are all worth a visit. One of our favorites is St. Stephen's Cathedral. After climbing a few steps, the building from the 12th century offers an impressive panoramic view of the rooftops of Vienna. But St. Peter's Church is also impressive as the first domed building in baroque Vienna, as are the Gothic Maria am Gestade and the Votivkirche.

The university buildings in Vienna are also particularly beautiful to look at. Founded in 1365, the University of Vienna is one of the oldest and largest universities in Europe. The old buildings are still very well preserved, so the interiors in particular provide the perfect backdrop for some impressive photos.

Those who prefer something more modern will also find what they are looking for: The Vienna University of Economics and Business (incidentally the largest in Europe) with its new futuristic campus could also become the setting for the next sci-fi blockbuster!

A trip to the city's two palaces - Schönbrunn Palace and Belvedere Palace - is a must. Schönbrunn Palace is one of Vienna's most important architectural, cultural and historical monuments. The baroque building also includes a Gloriette, which is worth the trip up the hill just for the breathtaking view.
Both castles are also surrounded by beautiful castle gardens, which are the perfect places for a stroll when the weather is nice and the foliage is golden.

Part of the Schönbrunn Palace Park is the Palm House - a (photo) oasis inside and out. The impressive greenhouse is already 137 years old, is home to over 4,500 plant species and is the perfect place to visit even on rainy days.

For those who are looking for a bit more excitement, we recommend a trip to the amusement park in Vienna's Prater. In addition to the various roller coasters and attractions, the Ferris wheel in particular stands out, which is now not only a landmark of the Prater, but of the entire city.

These were our photographic highlights and our favorite places in Vienna - which ones will you definitely visit on your next visit? Do you have any recommendations of your own? Let us know! And don't forget to capture your #urbangoldenhour and tag it on Instagram by the end of the month!
