Old Town

Düsseldorf's old town, with its many beautiful alleyways, is a great tip for a balanced stroll. Here you can stroll through the shops or enjoy the wide range of cultural offerings. The old town has many churches, museums and art galleries that are absolutely worth a visit. The town hall and Heinrich Heine's birthplace in particular are real must-sees for culture fans. Regional vegetables, freshly caught fish and fresh bread are particularly easy to find at the market on Carlsplatz.

Afterwards, you can take a breather at the so-called “longest bar in the world” – the old town also offers space for around 260 pubs and bars, where you can of course also sample the famous Düsseldorf Altbier.

Rhine bank

When the day is drawing to a close and the weather is nice, we recommend a walk along the banks of the Rhine - from there you can watch the sunset! Of course, a visit during the day is also worthwhile. On the promenade you can stroll along the Rhine and make short stops on benches, at restaurants or ice cream parlors. If you want to see Düsseldorf from above, you should definitely go to the observation deck of the Rhine Tower - if the weather is good, you can even see as far as Cologne from there!

Benrath Castle

There is a real fairytale atmosphere in the south of Düsseldorf: the pink Benrath Palace is a real feast for the eyes and is also surrounded by beautiful gardens. While the palace has beautiful stucco decorations, paintings and secret rooms to admire, you can enjoy nature in the palace gardens. For a little refreshment in between, there is coffee and cake in the palace café. The perfect place to take a breather and forget the hustle and bustle of the city.

Königsallee

If you fancy a big shopping spree or a bit of window shopping, Königsallee is the right place for you. In addition to many impressive luxury stores such as Prada, Gucci, Chanel and Dior, there are also many other shopping gems to discover in the passages and side streets. But it's also worth a visit for anyone who just wants to stretch their legs. In addition to the many shops, a long canal runs through the avenue, which is regularly visited by ducks and swans and offers a lovely place for a long walk with lots of nature and seating.

Little Tokyo

In Düsseldorf you can also go on a little trip to Japan! In fact, Düsseldorf is home to the largest Japanese community in Germany and so an entire district has developed that is dedicated to the country in the Far East. In Little Tokyo you are enveloped in a unique Japanese atmosphere - there are many authentic restaurants, izakayas (Japanese pubs) and other shops to stroll through. In the Niederkassel district there is the so-called EKŌ House of Japanese Culture, where you can visit a Buddhist temple, Japanese gardens and a traditional tea house. There is even more Japanese culture in the Nordpark, where the "Japanese Garden on the Rhine" is located and offers many beautiful places to linger and relax.
