The PICKMOTION Team starts its tree planting project
The journey began on 12 May 2022. Full of energy and motivation, the PICKMOTION team met in Berlin-Pankow to travel to Neuruppin in a tour bus. The idea of planting trees for our customers and our environment had already been planned for months. Now the time had finally come to lend a hand and actively help shape the PICKMOTION forest. To do this, we met up with the two friends Sebastian and Frederik who have launched the project called "Viva la Wald" in Potsdam. A real project of heart as both of them actually work full-time as engineers and use every free minute for their reforestation activities.

Why regional tree planting campaigns are so important
Forests are essential for a healthy climate for many reasons. To name a few: Trees absorb large amounts of carbon monoxide every year and give us back oxygen in return. Through their leaves, they allow water to evaporate every day and generate atmospheric moisture that can later be converted into rain. In addition, wood serves as a naturally renewable raw material. Through its processing into furniture or paper, the material is able to store large amounts of CO2 which would otherwise release back into the atmosphere when the trees start to rot.
Unfortunately, our German forests consist largely of monocultures full of spruce or pine trees and are thus particularly vulnerable to pests, drought, and extreme forest fires. Local reforestation projects like the one by Viva la Wald and PICKMOTION ensure that various and particularly resistant tree seedlings - such as beech, oak, maple and Douglas fir - are planted into the ground. In this way, vigorous mixed forests can grow over the years, becoming another source of clean air and new habitat for animals and plants.

Sustainability in our company and in everyday life
As individuals but also as a creative publishing house that wants to share beautiful postcards, art posters, calendars and other lovely gift ideas with the world, our environment is very close to our hearts. For this reason, PICKMOTION already attaches great importance to CO2-neutral printing, recyclable packaging and production in the EU. Our tree planting campaign with Viva la Wald is also intended to set an example for sustainable action in our everyday lives. In order for the entire PICKMOTION team to actively help, regionality for the reforestation project was also particularly important to us. It also ensures that the seedlings will be properly cared for in the future. With the great help of Viva la Wald, we were able to plant a total of 2341 trees in Neuruppin and we are very proud of the contribution we were able to make. The PICKMOTION forest is even marked with signage and can be visited and admired at any time at this location (52°57'02.0 "N 12°53'22.3 "E).
