MILK CARDS AS FLOWER VASES OR GIFT PACKAGING

We love upcycling! Because not only are we doing something good for the environment, but we can also let our creativity run wild! In just a few steps, you can turn an empty milk carton into a really cute planter or an enchanting gift box for a little surprise! How exactly does it all work? You can see it here!

For this project you need:

  • Empty milk cartons
  • Watercolor or ink paints
  • A sponge
  • Paint brush
  • Pens for decorating
  • Kitchen paper
  • A glass of water

As soon as the milk carton has been emptied, rinse it thoroughly with water. Then cut off about a quarter of the carton at the top - so that the opening with the screw cap is no longer there. If there are still milk residues in the carton, now is the perfect time to wipe it out thoroughly again. You can now use your fingers to slowly peel off the first layer of the milk packaging from top to bottom. If you want to add an accent to the whole thing, simply fold the top edge over once. To do this, briefly dip the top edge in water beforehand so that no cracks appear in the material.

Now it's time for the paint! Get a kitchen towel or newspaper ready to place your cardboard on - this way you'll be safe from stains on the table and you can let your masterpiece dry in peace. Take a paintbrush and wet the cardboard with a little water. Make sure that the surface is not dripping with water, but simply well moistened. Now choose your favorite colors and paint the cardboard with them. For a pretty color gradient, we moistened a simple kitchen sponge, dipped it in the corresponding color and then dabbed it onto the cardboard. This principle also works with brushes, of course. If the surface becomes too dry, simply moisten it again with more water. As soon as the colors have dried, you can take a pencil and sketch small personal messages or pictures before painting them on firmly with felt-tip pens or markers.

Now all you need are some pretty flowers that fit in the box and you have a super individual gift! The painted box can of course also be used for other little surprises and decorated with pretty ribbons and bows. In addition to our beautiful magnets and cards, a colorful bookmark with the words "Mom is the best" rounds off the perfect Mother's Day gift!
