One of the typical old town streets in Prague, but something is wrong, it is completely deserted. Did Catherine Gericke have to get up extra early for this picture?
Natanja, why #classtriptoprag ? “It was really awesome! We laughed a lot and the hashtag came about as a joke. Since there were a lot of us on Instagram, we thought it would fit well with such a group. Funnily enough, @tonistadlr happened to be in Prague too and joined us with two friends. And on Saturday we were guided through Prague by the locals @matescho , @teturo_ , @jonatanjan and @tomasscz .” The long list of Igers involved: @reikilein , @_marvn , @denhartenweg , @curly_isabella , @nma.g , @cat_gericke , @schenkka , @aw_ip , @tobias___k , @geheet , @jakubtolar , @neverforgetthosedays , @lobianphoenix , @djasonnam , @amsel.ine
Baroque is truly omnipresent in Prague! One of the most beautiful examples is the old Jesuit library in the Rudolfinum, a huge monastery complex in the Old Town.
The most famous square in Prague is called the Old Town Square - Jan Hus was burned there and Kafka grew up here. With the houses, some of them Gothic, the astronomical clock on the town hall and the many alleys branching off, it is a truly picturesque ensemble, and is most beautiful to see from the tower of the town hall.
Oh yes, Prague belonged to the Habsburg Empire and fortunately the Viennese coffee culture has been reflected here in the form of long-established coffee houses, one of the most beautiful (also with a beautiful staircase) is Café Orient .
Next to the Old Town Square, the second most famous square and the Unter den Linden in Prague is Wenceslas Square. If you've had enough of crystal shops, you should head into one of the passages, which are beautifully designed and full of sophisticated elegance.
In the Lesser Town, everyone has to climb the Hradčany, the castle hill. From this small town, you can see the golden towers of Prague at their best.
Another good way to get around is to use the wonderfully creaky old Tatra trams, which operate around the old town ringing loudly.
Probably the new pilgrimage site for Igers, a suspension bridge in the somewhat remote Praha-Troja.
And finally – an ode to Bohemian beer. Prague has consistently low beer prices, usually under one euro for a large lager. Na zdraví!
