Being a good person, she decided to volunteer and quickly put this into action. Eszter travelled back and forth across West Africa, visiting places such as Togo and Sierra Leone, where she taught communities how to use computers and the internet, and especially on health measures such as the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and malaria.
Another fundamental experience she had was how time passes differently in a challenging environment. Today she feels that she learned more than she taught during that time. She smiles gratefully as she tells this, carefully considering her words. Later, she and her husband moved to Madrid and they founded an NGO for African refugees and organized language courses, which were in turn continued by the locals. After a few years in Spain, Eszter and her husband moved closer to their original homeland, Hungary and Switzerland. She has now been in Berlin for 2 years and says that the cultural scene here is similar to Budapest in many ways.
Eszter works very closely with our photographer community and exchanges a lot with them via video meetings or in written form. Through her work, she probably knows every Pickmotion member by heart. Back when Eszter was a student, she started doing contemporary dance after being inspired by the performances she saw on stage. Today, she goes to Tanzfabrik in her free time and, with her husband and other volunteers, also looks after Pressenza , an international news agency that campaigns against violence.
Eszter’s favorite postcard is Temple Playground B-0127 by _hannesthun because it conveys the feeling of freedom and space.
