Jannik Obenhoff has only been taking photographs for two years. Back then, he discovered Instagram through friends and started off taking pictures with his iPod. He now uses a Canon 70D and takes breathtaking photos.
When you look at his pictures, it seems as if Jannik is outside all day exploring and taking photos while other people his age are at school. But that's not the case: "I try to go out every weekend to take photos, but I don't always manage it because of school or other things," says the photographer, but it is his hobby that makes him spend a lot of time in the fresh air.
With 142k followers, Jannik is one of the most successful German photographers on IG. He was recently ranked 14th out of the 100 best Instagram accounts in 2016 by dailytekk.com . What impact does such success have on him? “Actually, the IG hype hardly affects my everyday life. Sometimes I get approached by classmates who found me on Instagram.”
Although the photos are very varied and new motifs are constantly emerging, the photographer doesn't plan much, "usually a little the night before". Once he got up at 2 a.m. to take a picture of a shooting star, and he succeeded.
Where does he get the inspiration for his photos? “There are a lot of people on Instagram who inspire me, for example @alexstrohl , one of my biggest role models.”
Jannik is also part of @germanroamers , a group of German photographers who present their favorite places in their home country and the rest of the world on Instagram.
