Where exactly is your shop located? What does it look like?

The Papelito is a world of wonders and stationery in the middle of Kwartier Latäng, the student district of Cologne. For more than 25 years we have made everyone happy who loves paper, calligraphy, letters and seals. And of course Spökes. Because apart from all the great paper goods, you will find a constantly changing selection of design and old school, kitsch and its and bobs – upcycling products and kaleidoscopes, cult kitsch and cut-out dolls, tin robots and pens from Kaweco, Rijkswachters and paper masks. Come along – it’s always nice with us and there is much more to discover than I could describe here!

The shop is motley and full to the ceiling. Most of those who are here for the first time experience a sensory overload, but they quickly enjoy our slightly different shopping experience.

 What’s the basic concept of the shop?

Papelito and stationery – it’s like air and love, like Romeo and Juliet, like a pair of swans, also a bit like Stan and Ollie or Clever and Smart. And Ernie and Bert. Bonnie and Clyde! The double Lottchen? Lady and the Tramp! Well, in any case, there is a lot of junk, a lot of chocolate and lots of tinsel to all the beautiful things made of paper and the love for it. Everything to keep or give away however you would prefer… even for most fathers you will find gifts in our shop. Of course, I cannot guarantee exceptions, but if not for Papelito, then I don’t know where.

I am always looking for something extraordinary. When I see something from my range being sold in department stores, I take it out of the assortment because people come to me because I have different things than others. In order to find them, I regularly drive to trade fairs in Germany, France and England.

In your opinion, how does your shop fit with PICKMOTION and the PICKMOTION products? How did you become aware of PICKMOTION?

PICKMOTION and Papelito – what can I say?! We are best friends. I think that postcards don’t always have to be designed more pompous because of course, that makes them also become more expensive. It depends on the message! For me, PICKMOTION symbolizes exactly that – that it depends on the message. When I heard about the concept of the PICKMOTION company from a sales representative, I was immediately enthusiastic and simply had to have you in my shop.

 What’s special about your shop? How do you use the advantage of being a steady retailer? How do you differentiate yourself from other shops and/or webshops?

Papelito makes life beautiful. With us it is colourful and happy, there is a lot to discover. And we are at your side with advice and action when it comes to finding the best gift – and we will also pack it in the most beautiful wrapping paper, tie a bow on it so that you get the most magnificent package that you can imagine. Papelito inspires and makes your life easier. We are often asked why we don’t have an online shop – the answer is simple: Because you can’t see our smile on the web. And therefore somehow won’t have so well-advised and not really happy customers. I prefer to be with people than with machines.

What do you like most about PICKMOTION? Which products are your favourites?

PICKMOTION is creative and fun, like us – we love the classic postcards in retro design. At the moment my favourites are the new motifs from Cologne!

We can definitely recommend you not to miss this little wonder world with all its charms and extraordinary products. The Zülpicher Straße not only has an exuberant student life and culinary delights to offer but also the Papelito – and that alone is worth a visit in Cologne.
