Phoenix Lake
The Phoenix Lake was artificially created in 2006 on a former industrial site of a steel mill and is now known as a residential and nature recreation area. The beautiful lake instantly provides you with a real harbor feeling and is the perfect place to spend some quality time by the water. To enjoy the view with a cup of coffee or a snack, you can find many cafes and restaurants in the area. Nearby, you will also find the so called Kaiserberg, which offers a fantastic view over the water and the city. It’s the perfect place for beautiful photos, especially at sunset!

Phoenix West
Not far from the Phoenix Lake, you will reach the grounds of Phoenix West. You will discover many impressive and old industrial buildings, such as imposing blast furnaces, which were active until 1998. Nowadays, you can walk through the industrial area and even join a guided tour over the old gas pipes. Get ready to experience an impressive industrial scenery that will also look stunning on your pictures.

Rombergpark
Especially on weekends, Rombergpark, which is located close to a zoo, is a popular spot for long walks in nature or next to a small lake. The botanical garden is a real highlight for the eyes, even more so when the variety of flowers start to bloom in spring. But also other seasons, such as autumn with its many colorful leaves and the quiet crackling under the shoes, will provide you with a soothing atmosphere in nature.

Westfalenpark
Not far from Phoenix West, the Westfalenpark with its abundance of nature and a botanical garden is also a wonderful place for a weekend stroll. From a rose garden to a Japanese garden - due to the great variety of the park, there are countless beautiful photo spots to discover at any time of the year. Moreover, if there is not a pandemic going on, you can go to the observation deck of the Florian Tower and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.

Hohensyburg
If you need some distance from the city life, you should take a trip to Hohensyburg on the outskirts of Dortmund. You will be rewarded with a breathtaking view over the Ruhr Valley and can marvel at medieval ruins and a monument to Kaiser Wilhelm. In the heart of Dortmund, the neighborhood Kreuzviertel is located - also known as the young scene district of the city. Formerly a brewery, today a center for art and creativity. The Dortmunder U houses various art exhibitions, events and cultural offerings and is also a real eye-catcher from the outside. Signal Iduna Park
The Signal Iduna Park is the largest soccer stadium in Germany and home station of the BVB and makes the heart of every soccer fan beat faster. However, the stadium is also worth a visit for the not-so-soccer-enthusiasts.
