DIY Colourful Bath Salts
Bath salts are a great gift to show your loved ones that they deserve to take some time for themselves and treat themselves. But instead of just giving them a bag of bath salts, you can add a personal touch and make the gift a little more special.
You will need:
- Bath salts
- Food colouring
- Three cups or glasses
- A jar for the gift
- Optional: essential oils, a bow for wrapping
DIY Gift Idea: Bath Salts coloured by yourself!
Take your bath salts and divide the amount evenly into three glasses or cups. Now you can easily colour the bath salts as you like with some food colouring - just drop a few drops of food colouring into the bath salts and stir it well. If you want to add a nice scent, add a few drops of essential oils. You can then fill the bath salts into a jar you would like to gift! Decide for yourself whether you want to layer each colour separately or have thin layers of the individual colours for fine stripes. Now all you need is a bow, and a very personal gift is finished!

DIY Coloured Candles
Especially during the cold season, candles are a great gift to make your home more cosy. Add a personal touch by colouring the candles yourself!
You will need:
- White candles
- Remains of old candles or wax for melting
- Coloured oil wax crayons
- Talls jars to melt the wax (as many as you use colours for)
- Wooden stick for stirring
- Newspaper to cover your desk
- A water bath or oven
DIY-Gift Idea: Colour candles yourself!
Fill the jars with left-over wax from old candles or wax pastilles. Chop the wax crayons into large pieces and place them in the same jar – one for each colour. Of course, you can also try your hand at this and mix the colours together. The more pieces you put in, the stronger the colour will be in the end. Put the jars in a preheated oven at 100°C top and bottom heat and wait about an hour for them to become completely liquid. Alternatively, you can put the jars in a water bath and let the wax melt in it.
Put some newspaper or scrap paper on your working surface and have a plate ready to place the coloured candles on. Now it's time to colour! Dip the candles briefly into the melted wax - the deeper you dip the candle, the more of it will be coloured. So that no drops of wax run down the side, pull the candle out again as quickly as possible and hold it straight over the glass. Wait a little for the wax to dry and you’re already done with the first colouring! You can let your creativity run wild - for example, dip the candle again with the same side, but this time less deeply than before to create a beautiful colour gradient. Or turn the candle upside down and colour it from the other side.

Tip: Make sure that the wax layer is not too thick and that the wax in the jars always remains liquid. The advantage of a water bath is that the jars can simply remain in the hot water.
Tie your coloured candles together with a beautiful bow and you have a very personal and beautiful gift!

It is best to add a card with the recipe and point out that 80g of butter and an egg are still needed for the biscuits. For a vegan version, the butter can also be replaced with vegan butter and the egg with some apple puree.
Recipe for the cookies:
Preheat the oven to 180°C top and bottom heat. Remove the chocolate drops from the jar and set them aside. Mix all the other ingredients in a large bowl and add 80g butter and 1 egg (or vegan butter and some applesauce). Knead the dough and form 12 equal-sized balls. Line a baking tray with baking paper and flatten the balls slightly before placing them on the tray. Spread the chocolate drops over the biscuits and press them slightly into the dough. Put the biscuits in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes. Leave to cool and enjoy!
